FXR @ Intl Motorcycle Show, Long Beach, CA

Saw this FXR while checking out the bikes. This is the first time I've seen stabilizer bars on a swingarm like this.

Michael Psycle will become famous soon enough
I find the bikes in the parking lot at motorcycle shows are often just as interesting as the ones in the show. Thanks for posting those pics.

What are the benefits of mounting a stabilizer bar like that? What does it do?

Ya, all that work to stick the rear end, and offset by making the front end hard to turn.

It prolly runs real true if everything's adjusted up right. And the swing arm bushings are tight.

The way I understand the geometry of that strut. it only works if the bushings are only allowed to pivot on the shaft. Add any other movement and all you do is move the lateral pivot to the center of the swing arm. I'm not sure as to what that would do to the scooter, but it sure seems like it would be twitchy.

I guess he doesn't have much rear wheel travel. That bar looks mighty close to the passenger peg mount. His girlfriend must be a tiny thing!

What's with the starter motor and that cylinder thingy to the front and just above it? That's a new one to me.

I'm not going to rush out and fab up a stabiliser like that as it looks really dodgy...but that's just my thoughts.

I believe that "thingy" is a starter button

I don't see how that stabilizer does much good unless it is angled inwards a fair amount at the swingarm end. Otherwise it just reduces the load on the rubber mounts.

Odd place for a starter button...a bit old skool but handy!
