Finally got my FXR

Ok, so the hard part is out of the way. Got a 94 FXLR. The bad news is it has forward controls. I'm shorter, so I need mids.

Here are a couple dealer pictures. I already stripped off the touring paraphernalia.

Congrats, Beardo! I have seen a number of sets of mids on ebay and I would strongly encourage you to go that route. You get much better control for cornering and general handling with mids, and especially if your legs are short you will want that. 94 is a great year to get. A mature product with the best features and more spare parts available. Sounds really good.

Congrats! Nice looking scoot. When I bought my 93 a few years back it looked almost identical to yours, except mine had 12" apes.

Look around on ebay. I see mids pop up from time to time. I see them on Jockey Journal as well. Just try and stay away from Elvis. He charges too much for them.

Nice FXLR, with stock pipes no less. I always liked the bars on the FXLR, real comfortable.

Nice find. As others have remarked--stock pipes, no less, including mufflers! I never had the factory slip-ons but I still have the crossover headpipe set hanging on the garage wall. I'd also echo the sentiment to go back to mid controls. Good looking bike. Welcome aboard.

Welp, I was able to put 30 very short miles on it today. The forwards definitely have to come off. I've never liked forward controls, and these are way too out there. Hell, at times, I was putting my boots on the primary/front muffler.

As for the bars, the are doable, for now. I would rather have XR bars on it, but don't feel like going through the pains of converting the whole set-up.

The 21" wheel will be stored away and a 19" cast wheel going on. I don't like the 21s darn near as much as forwards.

I'll be also sticking a headlight fairing, or bikini fairing up front, as well. That should completely cut the windblast to my helmet.

I'm torn about the exhaust/aircleaner components. I actually like how quiet the bike is, but it is quite breathless up top. I expected as much. If I do replace those parts, they too, will be stored away.

I'll be making the bike fit/suite me, but nothing that won't be able to be bolted back on to return it to stock.

Here is how it looks without the touring gear...

I like the bags. You might want to carry tools, stop at the grocery store or carry a spare helmet for a friend. That's my thinking anyway.
