BigPeet is reading this now saying WTF is this?
FXRS-CON Windshield

I hit the swap meet Sunday and scored another set of Convertible saddlebags and a Convertible windshield. The windshield has some large stress cracks, but for 10 bucks I only wanted the frame anyway.

I have 3 Sportster windshields now, the largest 19.5". Although it's better then a bug in the eye, I don't think it's as good as I want.

My questions are these: Does anyone have one, and what do you think of it? And is there anyone making a replacement windshield besides Rifle and Cee Bailey for the Convertible frame? And can someone recommend one over the other?

I'm not interested in the Windvest, Memphis Shades, or any other windshield unless it's a Convertible copy. I've already read all the other windshield threads ( I think ). I know others swear by their windshields but I'm only interested in the Convertible at this time.

The old '80's road tests touted this windshield as being pretty good for the time.

And it's so darn ugly, I kinda like it!

ALAY191 wants to know Dino or Syn?
Hey Pete
If the top 10-12 inches of that shield are solid, I'd be interested.

Hey Al,
The top half isn't cracked but the coating is coming off.

What might you be needin' a half a windshield for?

an experiment ...
I really like the 1/4 fairing on my FXD, but wish it was a bit taller. I'll try to make an extension and if it works I'll do the same for the FXR.

I'm going to put the windshield on, cracks and all and see if it's any better than the Sportster windshield. I'll see if this thread goes anywhere, but I'm sure I'll have it back off regardless.

As soon as I do, you are more than welcome to use it for your experiment.

Rifle is thicker plastic, wider at top,and a little shorter with less curve behind the turn signals. Cee Bailey has exact shape and thickness but has their logo embossed. I have both with the CB being a plus 2". I have also duplicated the Harley Davidson logo that is just above the cross frame. 10 bucks mailed.

Thanks for the info...but you didn't tell me which you prefer!
I'd probably go for the +2 also.

The CB being the same thickness as stock has me a little worried. Maybe I'm just used to my RK windshields, but the stocker sure seems thin to me. Which one do you prefer, or can you tell no difference at speed?

I run the Rifle and keep the CB for show. It's more original looking. Except for their logo. If your a purist like me I do have the HD logo stickers

You are going to turn me into a crankyoldguy, crankyoldguy!

You still didn't answer my question, unless you are telling me you have never had the CB on the highway...being your show windshield and all. And yes, if I do get a replacement, I'll get with you on the decal.

I've checked out both websites and read about the Rifle being thicker and a little wider towards the top, which supposedly makes it better then stock. You, having the Rifle with the new improved shape, and the CB with the stock shape (except 2" taller), would be the guy to tell me if it's just another sales pitch.

I like the stock shape better, but I do a lot of high speed driving and really need the best one for the highway.

The Rifle did stop helmet buffeting and looks so close to stock only a cult member can tell the difference. Your right I have never had the CB on the highway and at plus 2 it's a look through. The Rifle also needs a little adjustment of the mounts on the tubes. I have a collection of all the hard to find stuff. Spare set of bags, windshield mounts, fuel gauge, sending unit, the black inserts on the dash and ignition modules.

Yep, I've been collecting parts for the Con also. If you need windsheild mounts, this guy has, or had, 10 sets. I bought 1 set. In original unopened plastic bag. This is cheaper then HD sold them for. Elvis is asking up to $200 a set.

......Just looked...he has 8 sets left.
