Oil hose 90deg bend solution

I put a torque plate on my '86 FXR but had trouble with the return oil line, as I had changed it out recently, but couldn't find a hose with a 90deg bend as they aren't available anymore. I have seen this discussed on here a few times and most people have just used straight hoses or 90deg fittings, both of which work OK unless you wanna put a torque plate on! So to solve the situation I went to the local hose and fluid connector supplier and bought the pieces to make a right angle turn that would clear the transmission and the torque plate. Here is a link to some pics of the parts needed and how it goes together:

Brass fittings.....Blahhhhh.

Did you notice how small the passages were on those brass fittings? Notice the blunt corner on the elbow?

To flow properly you'd have to drill them out. Problem is that brass is too brittle and won't hold up to the vibrations after being drilled.

I drilled them all out first and there is still plenty of meat on them, so, we'll see how it goes. It went fine on my long ride yesterday, so, so far so good I guess.

Next time you need fittings, go to your local hydraulics supply house. A nice steel 90 degree swivel would have been perfect for that.
