Thanks and I hope this is helpful to the OP regarding options for a horn replacement.
Sooner or later I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get an airhorn mounted somewhere. I have crash bars so the horn could theoretically go on them, but I've been resisting for aesthetic reasons. But I'm thinking what the hell. I'll probably get the Steibel and if it wimps out in a couple of years, just replace it.
I can't say that I've missed having the horn. There really hasn't been a situation in years where having a horn in an emergency would have been helpful.
I had a junker car when I was young drove it for two years without a horn and never really needed it. I just had to be a calmer driver which was not a bad idea. Same for the bike. A good horn could make me "stupid brave". But I'm going to get one anyway.

I just noticed this is your first post. Welcome to the site. And please post a pic of your ride in the "Lets see everyone's fxr" topic. 93 fxr's are revered around here.

Stebel Air Horn
Mike here is the only place I found that fits the Stebel Air Horn.
I painted the parts that were not black, so it is rarely even noticed.

When I replaced mine earlier this year, the new one came with a fairly stout bracket in the package with the horn.

I believe the horn issue was brought up before ( or I read it elsewhere ), but the Fiamm Freeway Blaster was the recomended replacement. Much louder than stock.
I'm like a lot of you, By the time I need a horn, I'm busy with other things.
I usually ride in a pack and only use the horn for lane changing. The wimpy stock horn is perfect for that.
For those with big hands and arms, just remove the back wheel. It takes me all of 5 minutes to remove, maybe 10 to replace. Much easier when you can see what you're doing.

Anyway, it's been a lot of years since I've had a horn that even I can hear so I'm not expecting to find much. Just hoping.

I'm with you. I've never used the horn. When I bought my FXR it was already broken. I just hated having something not work on the bike. So I replaced it anyway.

Had a small air horn, Howards Horns I believe.
While it looked good, it was high pitched and a little underpowered.
Went with a Stebel on my next bike and liked it better, much louder!

I recently replaced my horn. Old one stopped working, no idea why. I didn't want to have to fuss with getting to the old one so I just bought a cheap take off bagger horn off craigslist (with the cowbell cover) and bolted it to the front of the frame and wired it up. I had to reverse the bracket to make it fit though, so the cowbell stuck out. Worked fine but one day the cowbell snagged a brake line. Luckily I caught it in time so the line was just scratched, not broken. Took the cowbell off and turned the horn around and it now tucks in nicely. You really don't see it unless you look closely and it sounds fine.
