Choke

Just wanted to see what you guy’s think… The guy I had bought my bike from told me he never used his choke to worm up the bike because it fouled the plugs.

So I haven’t be using the choke the bike is cold blooded at lease the initial start of the day or when it’s been sitting a long time pretty normal I'm sure. What doesn’t make sense to me is what’s the difference if I hold the throttle to a nice idle or pull the choke to a nice idle at warm up.

Thanks.

When the engine is cold the fuel doesn't vaporize efficiently and more is required to run properly. This is what the enrichener is doing. As the engine warms to operating temp., the vaporization is better and the extra fuel is not needed. If you leave the choke full-on for the high idle as it warms...it will foul plugs. Best to pull choke for a cold start....then back it in as soon as possible, but leave it on a little to keep it running. As soon as you can shut it off and the engine still idles...do it. Set the throttle lock for a higher idle (with no choke) to finish the warm up.
