problem with my 91' fxrp

hello,i found this forum while trying to do some research about my bike,ive got no spark on my 91 fxrp,ive checked all the wiring for shorts ive even tried a couple of different coils still no spark is there any way to test the ignition system? i have the dyna 2000 box and single fire stock style pickup.any advice would be much appreciated

Try bypassing the wiring by running a jumper wire to the coil straight from the battery. If the problem is in the harness or switches, it will run with the jumper. The other thing to try is to plug in a known good module. Every shop has one, and it should'nt be hard to find one to test with. If youre single fire, just disregard the second wire, and hook up a stock coil.

Check the wire going from your ignition module to your tach. Could be shorting out.

In the service manual they give step-by-step instructions for troubleshooting the ignition module and sensor (at least the one for my 87 FXR did). That's how I found out that my ignition module was bad.....
