Is my bike the only..

one that leaks like a sieve if I put 1.5 quarts in the primary? 1985 FXRS, all books point to 1.5 quarts. If I do that, it leaks about a half a quart out than quits. WTF? Just changed the fluids and did a clutch adjustment, prmiary chain adj, tune-up. the whole nine yards. I put a quart in the primary and it isn't leaking. Is (are) the books wrong? One thing I can tell you; the Factory service manual is wrong about the clutch adj. It says to loosen the adj bolt (CCW) to remove free play in the clutch rod. The Clymer book says CW to remove the free play. No way in hell CCW is going to remove free play in the clutch rod......

My 87 FXR takes 1.5 quarts (by the book also) in the primary with no leaking....

That's kind of what I was thinking. The leak comes from up behind the inner primary, maybe the starter jackshaft. Most likely the seals need some work, but this is ridiculous.

Although the H-D Service Manual for my 94 FXRP calls for 38-44 ozs., I always just put in 1 quart. Any more and you are asking for leaks.
