The Factory Service Manual has all that info and tons more. I highly recommend getting one.

If it's the trans that leaking, it's probably because the front sprocket nut came loose, and the trans fluid is sneaking out the splines, and spraying off the pulley face.

You'll need a manual, not only for guidence, but for torque specs.

You'll also need a special socket for the front sprocket pulley, and a remover/installer for the inner primary bearing race on the output shaft.

I've done 2 recently. Takes about 2.5-3 hours. I had air tools as well.

If the front sprocket came loose, the telltale sign is that it leaks sitting on the kickstand, NOT RUNNING. The trans fluid puddles at the trans bearing/seal and runs down the output shaft, the through the sprocket teeth.

The effort it takes to tighten it isn't worth NOT going a tad farther and repaceing all the seals leading to the trans, while you're there.

I agree, Dave is right on the money about the pulley nut and seal.

I suggest that in addition to replacing all the seals while you are in there that you make sure you have the upgraded front pulley, nut, lock and spacer.

The old design used a single bolt that threaded into the pulley, the theory was that if the nut backed off it would contact the bolt head and stop.

What really happened was the nut would start to back off, contact the bolt head, shear off the bolt and then continue to loosen.

The new design uses a lockplate that goes over the pulley nut, held by 2 bolts. The pulley is also thicker in the center web area making it stronger, and the spacer has a narrower width due to the wider pulley center.
