V&H Big Guns on '88 FXRS

Not to start another thread, but I'd like to put VH Big Shots on my '88 FXR; anyone have experience with this that can offer some feedback?

Wondering a couple things:

Which alternate fitment is best to start with (ie: since they don't make them for the FXR, would it be better to start with a set made for FXD or FXST)?

Can the V&H stock bracket be modified to work?

If not, best way to fabricate a bracket?

I put V&H Bigshots from a softtail on my FXLR. I made a couple mounting brackets and bolted one to the pipes and one to the frame, then put a thick piece of rubber between them since our motor is rubber mounted. Here's a picture of the brackets that I made.

Cool - thanks. I'm going with the Short Shots for now and may move to the Big Shots when I have time to horse around with it.

I've heard the Shortshots and they don't sound good, the Bigshots sound MUCH better.
