Motor clearence

I posted something about this before but it's still a problem. I have the smallest clearance between the top of the rear rocker box and the frame and also pretty close from the oil bag to the rear cylinder/rocker box. I have changed out from motor mount and rear mounts. I have looked at two of the bro's fxr's and they have almost a 3/8" more clearance than me. If I get a on a washboard type road the rear top rocker box against the frame. I have had many fxr's and never had this problem. Any ideas? I have inspected everything that I can and can find nothing wrong. Like I said: front / rear roubber mounts changed, motor stabilizer bars changed, cleave blocks changed.

Well I have to say, you have got me there, that is a strange one. Have you owned the bike from new? do you know its history? Maybe it was in an accident somewhere in its past and was not straightened properly, or someone customised it to take a different engine or something. One solution would be to see if you can get the factory measurements used when doing accident repair work and stuff, and start measuring stuff. You will soon find out what is not right them. I must say though, that my FXR doesnt have much clearance at those points either, but it doesnt hit the frame on a rough road, so I guess it has a bit more clearance than yours. Hope you sort it out.

is it possible that you have a bored/stroked combination that would make the engine taller?

get your service manual and check your front to rear wheel alignment.

my buddy shaved the top of the front rubber mount to clear his raised port heads's intake to top stabilizer mount. He just belt sanded the steel insert down around .100" or so. Also, some aftermarket parts could cause this (cases, front mount both the steel one and the rubber one).
