93 FXLRC turn signal puzzle

Just bought this bike with Arlen Ness hand controls. The previous owner removed the front & rear turn signals. The wiring for the front is still there with 12v & gnd. I wired the signals and when I push the turn button the signal comes on, doesn't blink and goes out when I release the button. It only works this way with ign switch in run pos. When I move the switch to headlight on and run, the signal doesn't work at all. Any idea on where to begin. I live in PA, but don't care to rely on hand signals when I turn. I'll post pics of the bike soon.
Thanks so much. Greg

Firstly, welcome to the forum.

Now, I'll freely admit I'm no expert when it comes to electrical...
With that being said, I believe your front should have three wires, and the back two. Reason being, the front stay on as driving lights, and also function as turn signals. The rear just blink.
I'm sure someone with greater understanding will chime in, and set the record straight.

Once again, welcome to the forum.
When you get a chance, post some pics of your '93.
I'm kinda partial, and would like to see your sled.

Hey thanks for the reply! I like your bike. Tastefully done and appears it packs a punch in the engine dept. I looked over the wiring diagram and there are 2 hot wires for the front. The light housing is the actual ground. Didn't have it grounded when I tried it. I'll give that a try and let you know what I get. My bike isn't stored nearby and I don't get my license back til Aug. 14 (extremely poor judgement) Chomping at the bit to get back in the saddle. Not many options out there for FXR turnsignals and I want it to look good when complete. I'll send pics once I'm able to ride and shoot some photos.
