Any one using progressive shocks?
I just got a set of 412 progressive shocks and will be installing them on the week end. I was just wondering if any one else was using these and what they thought of them. also has any one used this new set up that changes the cleve blocks to dyna type berrings just wandering if they are worth the money?

Hi, I have progressive springs in the front of my FXR, and they are fantastic!! I dont know about the rear ones, as I have Koni's on the back (because they were given to me brand new by a friend), but if they are anything like the progressive front springs I am sure you will be more than happy.

412s are primo.
Rdrnr, your choice of shocks is a good one. I'm on my 2nd set of 412s ('90 FXRP-SP), the 1st set lasting about 30k miles. I think you'll find that the Progressives really tighten up the overall handling of the bike, especially when in the twisties, with just a little sacrifice in ride comfort. If you want to go a lot further in terms of improving your bike's handling, take out the stock fork springs and replace with a set of Progressives - you'll get rid of the front end float and gain crispness in handling you would not have thought possible in a Big Twin. Hope that helps. Peace.

Best Shocks on the Market, the 412's on mine have gone at least 30k and are still as good as day 1.
Did you match the 412's to your weight?
There are 2 412's standard and Heavy duty.

I also run 412's on my 84 FXRT and progressive springs in the front. I am 5'9" and weigh 180 and I couldn't be happier with them. I have the standard springs on my shocks. They are adjustable as well.

I have heavy duty 412's in the rear for 2-up riding and Progressive springs in the forks. The fork springs got rid of the front brake dive.
The ride is a little harsh when solo, but I got used to it. Excellent upgrade for the money.

My ultra is stock, except for progressive rear shocks. Used 12.5's and much better than the stock air ride. Worth the $$$.

I used to run Progressive till I got Works Performance shocks on my FXR-now that is the only shocks I will run...More money but better QUALITY and each set is made specifically for each bike based on rider weight, specific bike, type of riding, length, etc..

412 Hd
I swapped out my stock with the 412 progressive on my 83. I have the 11" HD and I will say they are as stiff as f^&K ....But they make the bike handle like a dream! I am 6'2" and weigh 285#. With the inches I dropped the bike it is a must to have the HD springs especially for 2 up! When I ride 2 up it is like riding a bagger,.......... smooooth!
Check Ebay! You can get some great deals on them there!
I paid $75.00 for my set because the guy bought the 412HD and weighed about #175 and he had them for 2 seasons and couldn't take the rough ride.
Drag Specialties has a version made by progressive for almost half the price we have installed them on a few scoots and have heard nothing but good on them ...
and They look great!

my383rdrnr,
the 412's are a pretty decent shock but i've replaced my 412's w/Progressives 440 on my '85 FXRS, '00 FLHRCI & my wife's '88 FXR - they're a little pricey but i think well worth it!
04ctd,
the length of the shock for your wife's bike would depend on the model yr of bike - my '85 came with a 11.5 stock length & my wife's '88 were 12 - i shortened each one 1" - personnally i would go any lower as it'll decrease your cornering angles too much - even if you shorten 'em 1", you'll also want to lower the front end
