Scrapeing gaskets...

So, I'm in the middle of replacing all the gaskets in the rocker box....

and normally this should be a few hours of work followed by a nice leisurely ride.

Its turned in to a few days of slowly scraping off the lower gasket with a razor blade.

Anyone have any tips on the best way to remove a 12+ year old fiber gasket from the cylinder head (Lower Rocker gasket)? The thing as all but fused to the aluminum, and really... its quite frustrating.

Thanks!

Always a new sharp single edge blade, getting a new one anytime it stops cutting. Sometimes I'll go through a few. Can also use a small brush and some gasket/paint remover. Dab a little on the gasket to soften.....scrape....repeat.

I'll pick up some gasket remover on the way home as well as an extra few boxes of razors. Been through 20 of them so far.

Thanks!

90 degree die grinder with a medium 3m scotch pad on it. Works like a champ.
