throttle problem

I am putting a new throttle cable on my 94 fxr here is the problem i am only running one cable{s&s e carb}was told this is ok with this carb, when i put it together you can use the throttle fine but when you roll off the throttle the grip goes back the other way to far and the cable end comes out of the plastic hook.Should there be a stop of some kind so it does not do this.

sounds like you have a throttle grip that was intended for a two cable set up, I would look at that first...dang been a while my ole sporty just had one cable but memories fade...

The sleeves are all set up for double cable but can be used single so i have been told, maybe my sleeve is worn and the back side of the hooks are stops?

I have a 90 FXR that I run a single cable to 2 S&S Super "E"'s and have no problems at all. It's all in the set up and the amount of slack you leave in the cable adjustment. I'm running a dual cable throttle grip as well, it really doesn't matter. With the throttle plate closed adjust the cable to be ALMOST TIGHT, emphisis on almost. Allow a slight amount of cable slack at the grip. If you can't get enough slack out of the cable, add some spacing under the cable support at the carb. The key is to remove as much cable slack as possible, that ensures there is always tension on the cable when you release the throttle back down. And last but not least, make sure your cable is lubed and in good contition. PROFX

Thanks profx i got a new throttle tube going to try that and then adjust should be good, hooks were a little worn i was told the end of the cable should snap into grip and hold my old one does not this could be the reason for the cable coming out of tube hooks ,let you know.

Pics Of The Spacer

Here are a few pics of the spacer I spoke about. My set up uses a Mikuni cable but it doesn't really matter, good luck.
