My Frontend....

How do I go about finding out what exactly is bolted to my neck??

Heres the situation, front end is acting like it has no oil, And NONE leaking from anywhere, can hear springs inside when compressing, like my sporty did after I let them ooze oil for a while. (I know but I was to busy ridin') Hell I was 18 and just bought a gently used '96 Sporty 1200. Anyway..
I believe they are empty, my problem is the front end isnt original. Well, I need to ad oil, which will probably show me the seals are shot and so on and so on.

Since I don't know whats on there at the moment, how do I determine the amount of oil to put in? And which internal parts to buy?

Thanks in advance

So I decided to Use the specs in the book even though I'm not sure which forks I actually have. HD - B Oil and 7oz to start, figure I'll adjust from there if needed.
So now I find out that I have no drain plugs! Atleast not like my manual shows. So now the front tire has to come off.
Wonder what I'll discover then....

P.S. Anyone feel free to chime in on this.

Amsoil Synthetic Fork Oil?

Dude - Hang in there. It'll only get worse...

BTW, I am now test riding with a new install of Amsoil #10 fork oil.
Just saying, ya know...

Take top caps off and stick a small tube down center of spring and suck oil out with syringe if you got too much. Measure outside diameter of upper tube and see what years used them. If you put too much oil in them, they'll be real stiff! Also go get after market oil for forks, more choices for weight and cheaper. PJ One is good oil in multiple weights starting at 5 weight.
