Clutch Cable Adjustment

I put new bars on my FXDL and new braided cables. The clutch cable doesn't have enough adjustment to take up all the free play. It's like the cable is about 3/8" to 1/2" too long for the cable housing. Am I missing something?

Have you adjusted the clutch per the service manual, i.e. by removing the inspection cover and seating the center screw, etc.....this may be what is needed with the new cable to equalize everything. If that doesn't work, perhaps the cable IS the wrong one for the housing.
