shock length
Thanks guys. Here's my idea..........I have a 2004 Sporty that really rides harsh. I must be getting old. From what I have read, the shock travel on a Superglide Sport is 4 inches. Right now I'm running Progressive shocks with only 3 inches of travel with no control over damping. I'm thinking of your shocks on my Sporty to improve the ride. What do you think?

I have those shocks on my FXD, they really made a difference over stock. They raise the rear fender though.

You'll have to get the mounting kit too....and see if it'll bolt up on the sporty...the stud monting bolts diameters are different....

There's a mounting kit for these shocks? Do you know what size the holes are? I would have thought they were all the same size, but I never looked at one.

I hope your getting a great deal on the FXDX shocks, new ones msrp for $400? I got a set off of ebay new for $139 shipped. The 440's got to be one of the best shocks out there but they too run $400 +.

Putting Dyna shocks on a Sporty probably won't yield the results you desire since the bikes vary so much in weight. The ride will be harsh since the Sporty is so much lighter. I'd take a serious look at correct fitment Progressive or Works shocks.

I think supersport is correct...and the holes on the shocks are smaller on those shocks....like I said above they will not just bolt on using your existing shock mounts.

You set then up one the low end of preload and they would run fine on a sporty. Even Progressive sells the same shock for diferent Harley families.

Shock Length
The length of my stock shocks on the 99 fxdx is exactly 13" center to center. Take that mesurement to the bank, not 13.5". I like my 440's, they seem to have a break-in period, and ride even better with a few thousand miles...

The length of my 05 Dyna Custom shocks is 12.6". The standard items cope poorly with ripples, where they seem to be unable to recover before the next compression. This wears the exhaust out on curves!
I've fitted standard length IKON (nee KONI) units, with a slightly stiffer spring, and am currently experimenting with damper settings. No sparks yet on corners.....
About gbp230 the pair.
