Paint protection from throw over saddlebags

Bought some dirt cheap saddlebags off ebay but they look and feel good. They don't have anything on the backside that will protect the paint and chrome, its just raw leather. Does anybody have anything they have used in the past that will protect the paint and chrome from wear and scratches. My bike is just a 1997 but the paint is flawless. Someone mentioned mole hair on one thread. What is that? I was thinking about some 3M clear bra tape that some use on the front of vehicles to protect from rocks. Any suggestions from experience is appreciated. Even the "don't do this" advice.

I've been using rabbit fur with good luck. You'll want the fur side facing the paint.

you can get some semi permanent shelf paper from home depot or walmart. trim it just over the area you will cover, then put rabbit fur or whatever you like...a few layers of the shelf paper might be all you'll need. comes clear or in colors/patterns.

I had a car detailer apply some permanent, clear protective film on areas of my car that's prone to paint chips and road debris. I bet it would work great for what you want to do.

You can buy mole skin at any wal-mart, Kmart, etc, in the health and beauty area. It is sticky on one side and a soft cloth like material on the other. It is made for feet problems (like shoes rubbing that sort of thing). You would have to spend about $10.00 - $20.00 to get enough to cover the area you need. It would work good for what you wnat though. It comes in flesh color (or camo in the sporting good area) but you could take a black permanent marker and color it if needed.

Stonegard, Clearbra, Xpel...one of the paint film protection products is your best bet.

I spent less than five dollars. Been using it for over three years now. I only put it on the underside of the bags, that way there is nothing to deform my bike.
