Does anyone know how complicated it would be to install wide glide tree and forks on a 01 FXDL. I am kind of new to the harley world but I love the look of the WG front end. Any advice you have to offer would be greatly appreciated.

Everything should bolt right up. The WG & FXDL have the same neck rake. You'll need brackets if you're going to use your stock fender & axle spacers if you plan to use your stock 19" wheel. Also a longer axle if it doesn' come w/ the new front-end. I'll be doing the same thing myself next year. You can get everthing you need at http://www.customcycleengineering.com/

Get a service manual it will tell you step by step how to do it. The hardest part will be taking out & re-installing the neck bearings.

I am going to keep an eye out on ebay for everything I need. I need to figure out what year models will work also. I would like to get a new 21" front wheel also. Good luck with your install.

I guess the question is WHY? The kit was $600 plus a 21" front wheel and lots of labor. Why not just sell the FXDL and buy a WG? No fuss no muss. In the long run it is going to be much cheaper and easier.

I like the bike I have and i was not thinking about going with a stock 21" wheel either. I also do not like the rear fender on the wideglide. Also I am not sure how much I could get for my bike and how much I could get a wideglide for. Thanks for all of the help so far.

Same here: don't like the bobtail fender, like my tach on the tank dash, not sure about 21" or keeping a 19" wheel. Got way more money in it than I could get out of it plus a kickin' 95" engine. Shoot, another $1000-$1500 ain't nothin'. Besides that I love my bike!!! A wg front end & maybe some apes might be a nice future enhancement though.

check out the custom cycle engineering ''mid glide'' kit.they look real nice-and add one their fork braces

They do look pretty nice. I would love to see a bike with one of the kits installed.
