Anybody tried a Windvest?

I'm considering getting a Windvest shield for my 05 FXDCI, but am curious as to whether anybody here has had experience with this windshield on a Dyna. I tried an HD detachable "sport" windshield, but was disappointed by the severe buffeting I got at head level. I find the bike more comfortable without a shield than with that one in place. The Windvest has a nice look to it and appears to be well designed (with the lip at the top of the screen) and built, but I'd hate to spend that kind of cash only to get beat up on the highway.

Thanks in advance for any opinions.

I ride with a guy who has a brand x (honda I think...never really looked to be honest) who owns one and trys to get me to get one every time i see him... swears up and down about how great it is. Our windshields are identical (well the lexan is...mounting brackets are different). I don't like wearing vests so I haven't tried it myself. Take this info for what you will :-)

HD Sport wind shield kit {p/n 58024-96} will do the same thing at 1/2 the price. A slighly different look than the 'vest. If the speedo is up on the bars it may not allow the 'vest to lay down enough and give you a "burble".

I have a 16" Windvest screen on my 05 FXD & I'm pleased with it. Took off my HD Compact after a little testing and don't expect to go back. Wind remains an issue but what I get now comes in from below. The HD wind screen had the same issue but I'm convinced the WV does a better job overall and is more aerodynamic. The bike handles better at 70+ MPH, YMMV.

Great feedback! Do you get any side to side buffeting on your head with the Windvest? That was the biggest annoyance with the "super sport" HD screen I tried.

No side to side buffeting. I miss that the most

Fact is, 'Penguins' I have a leather flap vest as well. The Windvest and Flap Vest together are a great combo. The flaps do cut down on buffeting from air rushing up from below to fill the pocket created by the screen. I wore it this morning on my 50+ mile ride to work. Left it behind on the return, just too freakin hot . Good product (Jacks Flaps) and Jack appears honest and willing to please. The only complaint I have about the vest is that it came stinking of cigarettes. Don't have to be a detective to know that either Jack or his help are smokers.
