FXDX/FXDXT Fork Oil Change??

I debated about putting this here or in the Suspension section so I'm hoping this was the more appropriate of the two. Has anyone with either the FXDX or FXDXT ever changed the oil on their front forks? I was reading through the Service Manual last night and from what I can tell the only way to accomplish this is to remove the forks from the bike and completely disassemble them. Does anyone know if this is truly the case? From the manual, it looks like the other Dynas, (FXD, FXDWG, etc) all have drain screws but the adjustable forks on the sport versions do not. Any thoughts? Not a critical thing as I'm far from needing to do it, just ran across this and would like to know for sure.

You do not have to actually "completely" disassemble the forks. Search for my thread and someone gave us FXFX/FXDX-T people a shortcut. But you still have to take the tubes and bottoms off the bike. You just don't have to remove the lowers from the tubes I believe.

Damn I should have known they'd make up for having that nice suspension somehow. That' pretty much sucks. Oh well, at least it ain't due for a change for some time yet. I may have to pay the stealership to do that one.

Thanks both of you for the response. Sj, I haven't been able to find your thread yet, but I'll keep looking.

Cool, that's awesome, thanks for looking it up and posting it. That method sounds a lot better to me, no need for special Harley tools to compress the springs or any of that jazz, I like it. 3,300 miles and I'll get to try if (if I decide to do it at 10K).

I think 10K was incorrect

After looking at the service intervals I believe the number is 30K until it's due to be changed....I'll check that again but 30K doesn't seem too far away anyway..

The owners manual has it at 20K , I switched to heavy oil and liked it .

How much did it take? My maintenance manual says something like 14 oz, but is that per fork tube or for both?
