Where does this acorn fastener go?
Unfortunately I dropped my dyna today....going around a curve and some cage came flying out of his driveway and stopped right in front of me. I slammed on the damn brakes so hard I pulled my fckn hamstring. While I was skidding to a stop looking at this dudes frozen mug in the car, with the rear brake locked, I'm pumping the front, I HIT SOME CINDERS on the road that the county laid down for the ice we've had a month or so ago, so right at the last second the bike slides to the ground and I jump off I pick the bike up roll it to the side of the road and check for the damage. Looks like the stock pipes got scratched up and the brake lever ball got scuffed and the fairing has a nice inch or so scratch...the mirror has rash, but all in all pretty lucky. So after I pick the bike up I noticed this fastener laying on the road (see photo) and I'll be damned I cannot find where this goes...it had red locktite on the threads and it doesn't look like it's been sheared off as the threads are perfect. So I figure this was loose or something got turned and this spun off? Can anyone tell me where this might go?? It looks like the same one that holds the front of the tank on.

Yup,. Look between the front of the seat and the tank. It is most likely the afore-mentioned nut that secures the tank console and the rear of the tank to the frame backbone. Sorry to here of your spill. Think about it this way... Time for some new pipes!

Nope
It's not the console nut..I have a fxdxt and the nut holding the console on the rear is intact...the front is held on by the nuts from the top..the front fastener on the front tank mount looks exact...is the an acorn on the other side of the shifter lever on the foward controls...on the backside of the rubber peg?

That loctite doesn't look used. Maybe the nut was one that was dropped on the assembly line and was laying somewhere just waiting to be set free.
With red loctite, I don't think it would spin off when you dropped it.

Could it be the one that holds the passenger strap on the seat?

Fastener
Still can't find where...and going with the assembly theory makes me a little nervous. But can we agree at least that at least it's not a critical fastener?

If a guy lost his WG dash nut there, that's what it is.
End of mystery, or am I missing something...

Murphdog has hit the nail on the head. Look at the way the loctite has not been distributed on the threads like it would if it had been run down on a stud. Also, that dab of Loctite is up a few threads from the starter thread just the way it is supposed to be applied. Good eyeballs Murph..
On the other hand, if that guy backed out and caused you to lay it down, then his insurance should pay.
