Light bulb replacement questions

My 1999 Dyna Super has two bulbs labeled "K8 GE 199" (rear turn signals) and "K8 GE 198" (front turn signals and tail light).

Are these the same bulbs as a typical 1157 used in automotive applications?

There are some replacements available, and I've been told they are the same from salesmen... but need more info.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Dan

The rear turn signals are equivalent to 1156, the tail and front marker/turn are equivalent to 1157.

I replaced mine with krypton bulbs from the auto parts store, 30% brighter for about $4 each. Can't recall the part #'s off the top of my head, I'll try to remember to take a look at them tonight.

If you go with the LED bulbs, don't forget the Load Equalizer. You will need it for the flashers to function correctly since the LEDs draw so much less current than incandescent bulbs. Some LED units have the equalizers built in. If not, you can find them in any of the major catalogs where they plug into the main harness for the front and rear turnsignals.
