New seat for wide glide

I currently have a sundowner on my wideglide but I take alot of long rides and would like to get a seat with a removable backrest for the driver. I like what the saddlemen seats "say" they are like. Does anyone have one or have heard of a saddlemen explorer being "the best"? If not, what do some other long riders have/like with a removable backrest?

Hey Stoneface,

I've had my Corbin for over a year (11K miles on it!) and if something happened to it, I'd get another one.

PLUS, the backrest shown, will go into the rider's position or in the rider's position.......

Corbin Gun Fighter and Lady

On my 2001 FXDWG. I have to say it's an easy all day seat. 400 mile day riding back from bikeweek and no problems and then a 100 mile putt with the old lady the next day. I don't have the backrest but the option to add one is there (I don't think I'll add one either). Best seat I've ever had on a motorcycle bar none.

Hope this helps,
Later and ride safe,
NAILZ

I have a Sundowner 2-Up seat on my FXDWG. Here is an alternative that I am considering.

Cruiser Bags

These bags are the strongest things I have ever seen. The walls of the plastic cylinder have to be something like 3/8" thick. You could almost support the bike with one of these things. You could jump up and down on this thing and not make a dent into it. In the photo you can't see the integrated padded back rest that the girl is sitting back against. It is cool as hell. Check the website link to see the back rest. With proper sizing and their seat rest, you get a perfect rigid back rest plus a ton of storage for a long trip.

I talked to the owner of this company and asked him a lot of questions at a cycle show. These folks know what's going on. The product isn't cheap but it is top quality and should last just about forever.

hmc_retired is on a distinguished road
I ordered one of these for my newly-acquired Wide Glide...according to tracking by UPS I should receive it tomorrow. I'll op-test it this weekend and post a review.

I also ordered one of these when I bought the bike....it's anybody's guess when it will arrive, but I will likewise post a review.

I just installed a Mustang Vintage Solo with removable backrest and additional rider seat on my '03 Wide Glide. So far I have put only 100 miles on the new seat and it is great. The backrest really helps and my wife says the additional rider seat is the best. I will post some pictures and let you know about the additional miles.
