Dyna Super Glide
I'm thinking of buying a Super Glide this springand wondering about any downfalls or problems with them. I have an '03 XL1200C right now.

You're probably asking this question in a bias forum......you know that right?
As far as mechanical issues/downfalls.....no, none that I am aware of.
Coming from a Sporty, a Dyna will be the one bike in the big twin family that will come the closest in handling to your current bike. This bike is often referred to as a Sporty on steroids. But being a TC rubber mounted engine, it will be much more comfortable for extended rides. It's much more versatile too.
I have an '02 FXDX which has some sport enhancements over the stock FXD. Dual disk front brakes, tach is standard, fully adjustable front an rear sport suspension, and blacked out engine, etc. Also, the FXDX sits 1/2" taller than the FXD allowing more lean angle in the twisties (I still drag pegs and exhaust/brackets regularly). Initially I was going to get the FXD and mod it up, but I liked all of the perf upgrades and blacked out treatment so it was worth the extra money to me to go FXDX. I can keep this bike stripped down for a nice solo look, but in a minute and a half or less I can be ready to go away for a 4 day 2000 mile run with the wife. I have a detachable sissy bar w/ luggage rack (duffle bag or T-bag for a long weekend pack), a detachable smoked compact windshield, and a Sundowner touring bucket seat. I've put 16k miles on this bike in a year and two months. Best of both worlds IMHO. It was the perfect bike for me.....good luck with your decision!
I think FXDeanX stated in more simply, but I'm rather long winded!

I don't think there's a might... I've ridden mine all over. Canada to DC, NH to IA. Never once did I regret buying it. It's a great machine and as a blank slate it can become whatever you want.

I have a 2002 FXD. I've put 10,000 miles on it. When I bought it, I was lucky enough to have the cash to buy pretty much any Harley that I wanted. I ordered an FXD and then spent another $4000 setting it up "just for me". I also have a 1995 Sportster XL1200. I couldn't get a decent trade so I kept it. The FXD is a more comfortable bike, but I put 35,000 miles on the Sporty. Not bad for an old guy of 61.
You'll love the FXD. In my opinion, it's the best "bang for the buck" that Harley has available.

I originally started looking at a Superglide. A good friend of mine has one, and when I still had my Buell's, he had come over to help me work on them (adding new exhaust). He knew I was a pretty careful rider, so he offered to let me ride his bike. I rode it for awhile and was hooked! I originally went in to get a Superglide when I could afford one. I ended up going with a Lowrider though, I liked the ride just a little bit more. I've ridden the Superglide since getting my Lowrider though, and like both of the bikes alot!
Good luck in your choice!

I've ridden a number of Sporty's and I have a 99 FXDX . I think you'll enjoy either of the Superglides . Smoother , more comfortable, and easier to ride long distances. If you like the twisties more , I'd go with the FXDX to me it's like a sportster on steroids. If you like sweepers and the open road more I'd lean towards the lowrider , the forks are kicked out a bit more . My brother has one , I love his .

I went to the stealership and looked really close at the Superglide and the Lowrider and am now leaning more toward the Lowrider.
Thanx for the feedback. Now can I ask the same thing of the Lowrider.

I ended up going with the Lowrider, and haven't had any complaints so far! Granted, I've only had it two weeks, but my wife and I love it! A friend of mine has a 94 lowrider, and he's put about 70k miles on it with minimal problems (slight oil leaking, we give him crap about it and blame it on the fact that he buys the cheapest oil he can find!)
Go with that you like the best, with the newer bikes I don't think you're going to have many problems with either one of them!

You may have some other issue.... Mine doesn't vibrate like you describe. The faster I go the smoother it gets. I run a lot of hiways and it's nice and smooth. oh BTW mines an '01, but they are the same.

I agree with Bob, you must have a problem somewhere because my 00 FXD doesn't vibrate at all at speed. Shakes at idle and shudders a little when I back off the throttle, but at 75 it is smooth as glass.
