160 rear tire on 2003 WG
Will an Avon 160/80-16 tire fit on a 2003 WG?? Seems like it would but I want to know if anyone tried it yet. Thanks..........Ward

bigblock, i had a friend of mine just ask me the same question about his 2002 WG. I did a search here on the site, and it seems that the dynas just went to a 150 from a 130 in 2002. It seems that trying to put a 140 on a pre-2002 was ok, but a 150 was a problem with some wiring. just guessing the mod that changed the dyna to allow the 150 may have left barely enough room for a 160, but not a 170? I just put 200 on my VR and had to make some modest changes from the orginal 180.
Surprised that this hasn't been covered on this site yet, so i'll bump it.

DJW thanks for the bump. Seems like it would just be an incremental change and should work. I'm sure HD engineered extra room with the change to 150 but who knows? I see your're from B-ville. I went to Fayetteville Manlius High grad '79. My parents still live in the 'Cuse so I go up in June for a couple of weeks of riding. Later.

Bigblock,
I noticed in your signature that you have the Ness Big Sucker kit on your Wide Glide. I have the same setup on my Ultra and noticed the air cleaner element started to come apart after about 3000 miles. Just wanted to give you a heads up. The rubber on the air filter itself looked like it began to dry rot. Wasn't a big deal as the true K&N filter fit perfectly as a replacement. Problem solved.
This may not happen to your air cleaner element, but I wanted to give you a heads up just in case.
This is not a knock on the Ness equipment as I have several of his pieces on both my bikes and this is the only issue I have ever had with any of it.

Ness Big Sucker Stage I or II? Do you have the part # of the K&N filter you used?
Thanks!

jwimprine-I heard about this problem too. Seems that supposedly some of the earlier filters were defective. I heard that Ness would send a replacement free of charge if asked. If/when mine goes bad I'm going to a Woods 3 or 3.25 to get more flow.
Boismier- Yeah it's a small world for sure.

I have a 2000 FXDWG with the 150 880 Metzler...no problems...but fit on side is very, very tight (had to have bag bolts shaved to inside of fender)..no clearance problems to date riding two up...but scary tight on fender side.
