"Buzzing" Front Brake
OK, I know this sounds crazy, but today I noticed that when appying the front brake, it "buzzes". Yep, buzzes. Not a scraping noise or a squeal, but a buzzing.
Wide Glide has 9,500 miles on it.
Any ideas?

Thats funny, mine is doing the same thing... a "buzzzz" , but I have a 2003 with 250 miles on it so far. and when you arent makeing it buzz by applying the brake, mine makes a squeak type sound once every rotation of the rotor.
I have no idea why, think it myght be a warped rotor? Im just breaking in he bike so I have been super gentle with braking also...hmmm, defect?

sounds like a buzz to me too, a low one, I think it is the pads mashing against the rotors, since they are drilled and side cut, so to dissipate the heat and grip better.

Thanks CraZYWiLLiE,
Your answer about the drilled rotors make the most sense so far.
I feel better about riding it now..........

My 02 Low Rider has done it since new. It has 7.5 K on it now and still does it. On another thread it was described as CrazyWillie did. The pads on mine seem to be wearing evenly and the brakes work fine. It's another one of those 'it's normal, get used to it" things. I hardly notice it anymore.

well, its good to know that the buzz is a normal thing, but that still doesn't explain how and why my front rotor drags at one short point on the rotation...
anyone??

My 03' FXDX with over 3k miles has done it since new, checked pad wear and it's ok, and my wrench at the dealership said "it's normal". Drove me nuts for awhile but like all the other little whirring, clanking, etc ya get used to it

This thread alone was worth the price of admission of joining this forum.
Love it!
