Feedback before pulling out wallet

Hi..
New to the forum. Old to riding. My HD culture is of Pan/Shovel world.
Just learned yesterday HD starts at 96CI and 6 speeds!
Figure I'll go buy at least one "new to me" HD. Decided on a Dyna.
Found 2, super low miles, entirely stock FXDC HDs fer sale.
An 08-copper anniversary and an 012-black. $9,000. and $11,000.
Read (AIM) where the 6 speed has an inherent 5th gear noise/vibration (re-design fix in 2012)
I guess, as a newbie to the new HD world, I am asking;
Which one. ? Why? There is no wrong answer. Is it worth 2 large to get the 012?
Going to whup out the wallet mañana, so here's hoping for some pronto feedback.

The 2012 would be a better buy IMHO , if for nothing else the warranty.

Fewer miles is worth a lot, IMHO.

The other question you have to ask uself is, which one is significantly closer to what you really want? The biggest cost of these things is in the mods/bling/customization/repairs you do post-purchase. I paid $4.5K for an '04 Dyna with 45K on the clock last year thinking "What a deal, few odds n ends & some maint & I'll have a great bike for little $." Wrong! Between repairs & bolt-ons to get it the way I want, I'm now $10.5K into it (including pur price). And I still have an older bike with mucho miles. I'd a been better off to buy something newer & costlier.

I never really noticed 5th gear noise until someone said something. Changed mufflers ... what noise? The noise is from the more efficiently cut for torque transfer gears. I prefer theextra hit from that.

I'd go with the one you like. I have an '07 with 82,000 miles on it... And it's a great bike. I wouldn't be afraid of mileage, or feal like you need a warranty. I never used the warranty on my bike, and have built it up into something that would be hard to replace.

The 5th gear whine was something I used to be able to hear on my bike, but I haven't noticed it in a long time. Try redline heavy shock proof gear oil if you notice a gear whine, maybe that's what took mine away, as I've made no other changes to the stock transmission.

Let us know which one you went with....

I'd go with the black one.

I really don't care for the Copper color.

FYI - the '08 won't have a cat, while the '12 will. Not a big deal if you are going to add after market exhaust.
