06 Street Bob Front Brake

Hi

I have an 06 Street Bob with a 1450cc engine.
The front has one disc and I am thinking of looking to add a second.
What is the best way to acheive this and with what kit?

Thanks

Hughesie

I looked into this for my '03LR. The FXDX came with dual front disks. If you can find all the parts, that is a way to go. Otherwise it gets 'expensive'. You can stay with the single-disk and there are 4-piston and 6-piston calipers that work with the OEM disk. I ended-up changing pads to Lyndall Gold and left it at that.

I did it. You need to find a set of duel disk lowers. then you will need a axle that will fit the lowers (cause yours wont). then you need to change the bearings in your wheel to fit the axle oh...and new spacers to fit the axle. All this hinges on the fact that your tubes are 39mm...mine were 05 FXD. I think your 06 bob is 41 or 49 mm in which case you will need triple trees and tubes (basiclly a hole front end) At that point you may open up a hole new can of worms with your neck berings, cup fitment in which case....time to buy a custom front end for 1000 bucks.

If you are doing this on a FXDB 2006, then you have the 49mm forks already.
Get a lower left slider from a V-rod or a FXDF (Fatbob).
Get a matching caliper and rotor to the right side.
You may have to machine 5mm off one of the calipers.
You will also need a MC designed for two calipers (touring, V-rod, FDXF etc...).

2wheelrider is completely wrong for 2006+ bikes, Jbco2 is on it. You need a fork lower that holds a disc. Your spoke wheel already has the bolt holes for it. You need a matching left caliper and 11/16" master cylinder which is sized for a dual disc set up (fat bob, etc). Oh, and new brake lines.
