Am I all done riding?
Ruptured a disk in my neck 6 weeks ago and the pain (cry for your mama type pain) is gone but my left hand has significant weakness. Just discovered I can't pull the clutch in. I know I have a healing window of about 6 months for that cervical nerve root but if this is the best it'll be does anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Panicking!!

you have the winter to heal..nerves grow back very slowly, maybe you'll have the strength back by the time riding weather comes?

Hope so. I've been down this road before with my right hand and had a PM brake package put over there along with a close pull lever. It actually took 2 years to get my right hand back about 75% where it remains. No guarantees but I'm very discouraged!

Just started looking into this as I just found out an hour ago how weak this hand actually is. The first couple of searches I did had people saying Hyd clutches are not much easier to pull,if at all.

I know I love riding my bike and some day the time will come when I can't. Hope that it is later than sooner, but there is still much more to life than riding.
See what happens over the winter, follow doctors advice and especially any physical therapy that is recommended.
I would be willing to bet you a quality beer @ BBC that you will be riding come next spring.

my wife is disabled from a failed back operation 20 some odd years ago.The med docs had her on narcotics etc for pain for years. She had no feeling or movement in her left toes for more than 20 years.
she began seeing a very good naturopath here, same one that John Denver used to fly to see. After 3 treatments, she began to get needle prick feelings in those toes, and regained use of them.
so that might be one more option,or something to keep in mind.
Edit: my knee began coming apart when I bent in earlier this summer, and I had torn ligaments and lifelong weakness in that ankle,he fixed both!

Don't panic. Set your sights on April and make it happen. Other members have worked through some serious setbacks. Try a PM to Mr Cujo; I remember him working through some issues with the left hand.
