wide glide mid foot pegs
What would be the easiet and cheapest way to put mid foot pegs on my 05 wide glide? Is this a simple or complicated procedure? I want to keep the forwrd controls, just want another place to rest my feet from time to time. I checked with my dealer and he wanted over $300 dollars just for the parts. Seemed very high to me. The bike is still fully stock.

Great question. Been toying with the idea myself... Strictly talking about the mid pegs. Anybody out there running this setup?

A guy I knew awhile ago did this and loved it, and I believe his was a 2005 also. Don't know exactly how he did it or what it cost but must have been fairly easy cause everytime he'd take it into dealer for warrenty work he'd take them off. Course he was one of the lucky ones that had a master fab shop in his garage just to go out there and tinker with.

you can likely find some take off mounts. the biggest obsticle will be the inner primary. there is hopefully a plug in the inner primary where the shifter shaft goes through. you'll need to get the shifter shaft and maybe a bushing for the inner. the outer will need only an inspection cover. your shifter arm will work. now on the brake side, you'll need a shorter linkage that connects the pedal to the master cylinder. unless the master is located up by the forward controls like a softail, but i think it's back by the swingarm. you should be able to track the parts down used at a swap meet or greedbay.

I ran an Evo Wideglide with mid's simply by fitting standard mid Dyna glide/sport pegs.
I doubt that the same can't be done for an '05 twin cam.
These seem pretty cheap to get good "used" ones as owners often junk them to put forwards on the mid pegged models. Simple, cheap, clean, and "stock" (for your dealer warranty)

I looked by the primary side and looks like there are mounting bolt holes in the frame for peg mounts and on exhaust side there are holes for mounting pegs also. I may try and fabricate some peg mounts. I am keeping my forward controls as they are. I will not be putting any weight to mention of on the mid pegs just resting my feet in another position. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know. $300 dollars from the dealer for these simple little parts seems crazy. I don't see why I would have to fool with the primary cover at all.

Had simular set up on 01 FXDL I put forwards on and later like you wanted more foot options stock mouts should bolt up. lots of them around. I made shorty pegs 2''[billit alm] and put heel rests on forward controls. looked good.
On the road put heel of boot on peg toe on heel rest almost like floor boards may sound funny but worked .

You can find take-offs on EBay. I found some off an FXDL (chrome). Just had to remove the brake lever portion from the right side one and buy some pegs. Think I paid maybe $75.00.

I think I got all the parts I need to do the change. I went by my Harley dealer in Hammond, La. today and told the parts man what I was doing and ask for parts numbers so I could find the parts on ebay. He went in back and came back with everything I needed and gave them to me. It was take offs from a dyna he said would work. How about that for service. I would recommend this dealer and service department to everyone. It is too cold to try and put them on for a couple of days. Will post how it works when I do. Thanks to everyone for their info. The parts he gave me had a few scuff marks on them but will not show when installed. What a dealer. I was fixing to buy what I needed odd ebay for around a $100.00. He said he knows of a lot of wide glide owners that has made this same modification.

Better hang on to that dealer! They can be hard to find with service like that.

Put the parts on today. Could not have be any easier, everything bolted right up. The parts number for the brackets are 50649-90 and 50639-90. I think they fit all dynas with midmount pegs from 1990 to 2005. Things changed on the 2006 wide glide frame so they will not fit 2006 and newer. All I need now is to pick me out a set of pegs. I do still have all factory pipes so am not sure how they would work with other pipes or mufflers. Again my local dealer was great for suppling these parts to me free of charge. Thanks to everyone who gave me info also.

this is the best addition I could have made to my wheel. It is so nice to have another place to place my feet on a long ride. Mybe you should consider it. I rode today and what a difference it made.

mid controls
Going to do that to my wide glide,,hardest part to find was the inner primary that has to have the hole to fit the shift lever shaft,,,also putting a 16 inch wheel in front,,waiting on wheel and fender to do everything at once

You don't need to do anything to the primary cover. The left side pegs bolt directly to the fram with 2 allen bolts. The frame already has the holes drilled and threaded for it. The same for the right hand side. It is a 10 minute job to bolt on and then add the foot rest you want to the mounting pegs. Super easy job. I didn't change the shift from the forward position. I use the mid when riding long distances for a rest. They fold back when not being used and are not hardly noticeable. Keep your forward shift controls and save yourself a lot of money and time trying to change the shift to a thru the primary cover.

Mid Controls
so really you just added the pegs? I have already done that but want the shifter and brake by the side pegs just like I had on my 1980 FatBob,,,I do have an extra inner primary and some other parts that I bought for a particular part that I did not have. Now shopping for some good highway pegs,,,later
