1985 Dyna Carb problems

I recently bought a 1985 Dyna FXRS, It gets way to much fuel when revved,if the timing is advanced all the way it runs much better, Any ideas?

Check the float level, you may want to remove and check the float for 'sunk float' condition. If it's brass shake it and note if anything is inside, but if it is plastic, see if it floats high in some gasoline. It will need replaced - no fix. Some of the early plastic floats cannot stand this new gasoline with alcohol mixed in.

46u wants to know where he is and how he got here
If it has the stock carb get rid of it and get a CV carb.

I agree with 46u, put a CV on it.

Without knowing the history or condition of the carb you currently have, you might want to put a rebuild kit in it.

Hell, put fuel injection on it....A carburetor is a carburetor and all have their compromises, redesigns and problems. If it has a float, it's just a carburetor.

The Constant Velocity carb was put on Harleys around '90. Has a butterfly and a vacum operated slide. Perhaps the most advanced carb for a harley. They are easily retrofitted to older evos and can be found on ebay for around $75.00. Tuned properly they make very good power, provide excellent fuel mileage, run very smooth.
