I wasn't sure I liked these on the SB I just bought but they just look like they belong there now.
With the SB being lowered 2 inches in the lines of the bags lend too that 50's hot rod tail dragger look...That and the Black Demin paint.

Have you checked out Boss Bags. They are pricey, but bullet proof & well deigned. Very roomy & versatile. You can even strap things like jackets & chaps to the top of the bags as well.
In fact depending on how you plan to use them I have a set that I need to sell for cheap that has the right side bag that is scuffed up from an accident. The bag it itself is still fully functional, just scuffed up in a few places. I was wanting $200 the set which includes new mounting hardware. For that price even if you decide to buy a brand new right side bag you'd still be getting a great deal.
I got a new set thru the ins. claim. I only use my bags occasionally when I need to carry stuff or going on long rides otherwise I keep them off the bike.
Regardless Boss Bags are top of the line stuff. You do have to relocate you turn signals, but that is the case with most detachable bags.

+1 on the Boss Bags. Cost way more than they should, but they are good.

I went the Leather Pro bags. The owner is the brother of the Boss Bags owner. Leather Pro was a little cheaper than Boss Bags. Mostly the same product. I like them a lot and should have bought them way sooner.

In fact they use the same tooling on the Dyna bags.
Regardless, LeatherPros are top quality and you will never regret spending the extra money for them. Harley bags are junk compared to these.

That's the beauty of Boss Bags and Leather Pros, they're quick release and are compatible with quick detach sissy bars. Worth every dime.

I bought the lay-down license plate/turn signal relocation kit from H-D. This kit is actually for FXDx only models because the thread pitch on the bar the turn signals mount to & the threads in FXDL turn signals are different. Just another way for H-D to screw their loyal, paying customers.
BUT! you can circumvent the Moco's screw-over by either drilling out the turn signal threads & installing helicoils to match the TS mounting bar OR just drill out the threads & put a nut on the inside of the turn signal. It's a tight fit, but works good. That is how I did mine. I initially planned to install helicoils, but picked up the wrong drill & drilled the holes too big for the helicoils.
The 2006 catalog says they are $56. Regardless of what any parts person will tell you this will work with the mods I described.

I like the hard bags and put them on my '06 FXDI. They carry a lot of stuff and look good.
I bought the National Cycle hard bags.
