Winter Storage Question

Hi,

I have heard a lot of different opinions if you should put the bike into storage on a lift to get the wheels off of the ground or not? What is your opinion and why!

Thanks,
Hedghog

I'm sorry, I have never heard of this winter storage stuff. Is that when that white stuff falls from the sky and scares the stuff out of my fellow Phoenicians?

I'm looking at a mandatory down-period this winter maybe...not liking the idea at all, but might have to bolt CA

Good info for the most part. I did have one problem with this though:

Make sure your tires are properly inflated. If you have a compressor then deflate your tires first to expel any moisture, then inflate with clean compressed air. You should repeat this step before riding again in the spring.

Go to your local auto parts and buy nice dry winter air for your tires

Seriously, you are much more likely to introduce moist air with the compressor than remove it. Then, turn around and do it again in the Spring! Getting the tires off the ground can't hurt and likely is better, but I would forget about R&R the air in your tires. jmo

HedgeHog,

We have as bad if not a worse winter than you guys do, about 5 months... All I do is inflate the tires to the proper level, throw some fuel stabilizer in a full tank, hook up the battery tender and put a cover on it. I will occasionaly move it from one spot to the other in the garage just to keep the tires round.
