Loss of Power

I have a 2004 Dyna (carb), it has only 2200 miles on it.

Today I took a ride, the first 20 miles were normal. Could get 75 mph easily in 5th gear.

Some miles later I had the feeling the bike has only 10 horsepower. Does not accelerate as usual and it takes forever to reach 75 mph (only in 4th gear).

This problem seems to be intermittent, but most of the time the bike fells like having 10 hp.

Where can I start troubleshooting ?

Thank You !

I think with that few miles on it I'd start with the fuel system. Modern gas doesn't keep very well and I've seen some bad stuff come out of a bike that sat a lot.

I agree that bad gas is very possible, next thing would be to check for a loose or broken wire, and corrosion on connectors, just unplug and spray cleaner on the plugs, WD-40 would work. How old is the battery?Sometimes it's the simple things, usually not for me, but you have probably have lived a good life. LOL Good luck and keep us up to date

The diaphragm inside the carb was bad ! Probably the damage to the diaphragm happend when installing the crome cover to the carb.
Paid 46 $ for a new diaphragm at the HD - dealership .
They said just the diaphragm is not sold by Harley, so I had to buy the whole thing.

glad ya got it fixed!
usually sudden problems can be traced to the last mod or change that was made.
