Thanks, but now I'm a tad confused. Isn't an inch about 25.4mm? Why did they change them in 08 again? I was hoping to find a set of 39mm FXDX Dyna sport forks for a project bike, but I'd imagine the later bigger front axle would keep the forks more rigid and help in the handling department.............I guess I'll have to weigh the trade offs and see what comes available. Are there a bunch of other changes in the front ends during that same time period?

When the axles sizes changed in 06, so did the tube sizes. They went to 49mm tubes.

Keep in mind as you consider what you want for your build, the tubes and sliders did not change when they went from 1" to 25mm in 2008. Only the axle, wheel spacers, and wheel bearings changed. As an example. if you buy a pair of tubes and sliders from a 2008 Super Glide (which has 25mm axle), they can be used on a 2006 Super Glide (which has 1" axle).

I didn't know that. I guess I'll stick to the 39mm forks and a smaller axle. I don't need that big of a fork. Thanks for the help.
