Corbin "Dual Tour" seat fitment trouble on 98 Wide Glide

Hello,

I'm just wondering if any of you have experienced trouble with your Corbin Dual Tour seat damaging your rear fender due to poor fitment, and what you've done about it. I had to take my seat and bike to Corbin (I live close by) to get it's poor fit adjusted, and the adjustment only made it worse.

The fit has put a substantial dent on each side of my fender as well as another two substantial scuffs, all where thes rubber support bumpers contact my fender when the seat's loaded the weight of a rider and passenger.

Because I dont expect many people have this seat, I'm going to place this post on a couple of different forums, but I'll update here with whatever replies I get elsewhere.

Thanks!

perhaps its aftermarket seats in general. i have the mustang solo seat with backrest and have a spot on the rear fender where it rubs, about dead center of the fender between where the stock pads are. i just plan on cutting some of the plastic seat down and then from there if i have to place protective film on the fender to help prevent the rubbing.

Unlike you, I have the luxury of being able to ride to the Corbin factory where they are sympathetic to my problem and have "adjusted" the fit once already, but you can't "adjust out" a bad design and the adjustment didn't solve the problem. I've thought about riding there again but I'm sure they'll just "adjust" the seat again, and the problem wont be eliminated. This seat just fits wrong and nothing short of re-engineering it will solve the problem. I'm going to have to noodle through a re-engineering on my own.

I came across this fender protector today that might make a difference if your seat isn't bearing down too hard on your fender.

thats exactly what i was lookin at to protect the fender. i need to get that seat mod taken care of pretty quick, im replacing the fender with a new one from a custom paint set, and definately dont want to to have this on the new fender.

That pad might protect against rubbing but it's wont make a bit of difference if your seat hits as hard as mine does. My fender is deeply dented.

i had considered making an indent in the fender to avoid the seat rubbing, but when i got the new set i wont go that route. i should drive to J&P and see what they know about these seats and maybe they have some insight or answers.
