Value of Dynas now that they are discontinued
I own a 2007 Dyna Lowrider FXDL. Now that the Dyna Low Rider models are discontinued, does this increase their value or does it decrease there value. I am considering selling mine to upgrade to a Road King and I don't know if I should ask book value or maybe ask a little above book value because HD doesn't make this model any longer. Any thoughts/opinions would be appreciated.

I think a sh!tty economy rules out any chance of even getting book value.
I had family that used to live in Fairfield/Suisun City.

There are very few HD collector value bikes and a 2007 lowrider is definitely not one of them. On the other hand I don't see it's value dropping because the model has been discontinued.
Most relevant is what Cop Stanger said. You're not going to get anywhere near book value because of the economy. Too may bikes for sale, too few buyers. Supply and demand. . .

huh?
The short answer is no. Look up NADA or Kelly Blue Book on line. The top trade in value is about where they are selling.
BTW, there are still 2009 models sitting on showroom floors. Tell you anything?

With this economy, the unemployment and all going up Houses, Horses and Harleys are taking a hit.
While I don't care to Adopt a Horse I may consider Adopting a Harley here and there to care for
My nieghbors just bought 2 06 1200 C's in pristine condition (2600 and 3800 Miles) plus extras for a little over $12,000.
I just ran across an 06 Street Bob with 12,00 mile for $8,000 that is tempting.
Next year is said to be even worse with the 5 Year ARM's coming due which will mine more Houses, Horses and Harleys getting abandoned.
I would think it better to hold on to what you have for now and save for the future when and if things start to recover.
I know I am looking and in a way I feel like a shark but at the same time if I find a deal I could also be helping someone out as well.

The economy probably won't have a chance of improving until 2012....

In addition I would expect the Low Rider to come back...
HD stopped the Wideglide for a couple of years too... but it's back.

I grew up in Fairfield....maybe I'll get back after I retire from the military. Anyway, keep your Low Rider. They'll be back as an updated model in a year or so.

Models Come and Go very seldom does it make it a collectors item unless at least 30 years old.. Has a neighbor with a 2004 Sportster thinks because it's the first year of the Sporty Rubbermount is a collectors edition .. Meanwhile is wondering why can't even sell it for 4 Grand..

As others have said, supply and demand. Remember, the MoCo isn't stupid. They didn't discontinue them because the model was in high demand.
In my neck of the woods used bikes are going for less than top book or are not selling.

..speculators never win in the motorcycle world (actual buy not stock) unless they live to be 100, buy and never ride.

I have lived in Fairfield for 10 years. Before that I lived in Winchester, VA for 15 years. Went to Alexandria many times to sightsee, shop and eat. Old Town Alexandria was pretty cool.

That depends on what you consider book value, who you sell the bike to, and how much trouble you are willing to go through to sell it.
With the Canadian and US dollars being almost on par, Canadians are cross boarder shopping and saving a small fortune but still paying what Americans consider a book price. For example, I'm, interested in a 2010 FatBob. The US price list $14,999 whereas the Canadian price list $19,269. If I were to to purchase my bike locally it would cost almost $22,000 before taxes.
That's a difference of almost $6,000 and because of that I'd also save on the taxes. At this level of savings, haggling isn't worth the hassle. If I could find an HD dealer would ship across the boarder into Eastern Canada, I could have this bike in my shed for less then $18,000.
When you're talking this level of savings, haggling with the seller isn't worth the hassle so you buy for the asking price.
