Twincam in a 97 DYNA

How hard would it be to install a Twincam motor in a 97 Dyna?
The way to go would be to use a TC motor and tranny out of a later Dyna if it would bolt up, as opposed to "Adaptor plate" (engine to trans.)
What about Ignition? My wiring has been totally redone and will not accommodate the ign for a TC. Is there an aftermarket ignition that is Stand Alone.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....seems like maybe a lot of work but then I am disappointed with only 34,000 miles out of a 96"S&S Super Stock motor.(broke in exactly as described in the break in procedures.)

I'm beginning to favor reliability over the hot rod stuff...finally...after over 50 years of riding.
Thanks for any input

Heres the short answer, yes. With enough time, money and skill anything can be done. I just read an article where they put a 96 Sportster motor in a 72 Sportster frame. If that can be done there is no reason your bike can be swapped out.

I know for a fact that you want to go no newer than an 03 motor setup. Harley changed the frames for the Dynas in 04, then again in 06. 96 to 03 use a lot of the same body parts so the frames are probably pretty similar.

Let us all know what you find out. And be sure to post pictures!

So....I guess then that any twincam "A" motor, with a 2003 or older Dyna transmission would bolt in. The electrics is a different issue, though I'm sure they have "stand Alone" ignitions for TCs...designed primarily for the chopper builder.
Thanks

I'm surprised by the fact that there doesn't seem to be many folks who have done this.
I really expected to have much more input.....

if you want reliability go with the evo you can put a evo in a twin cam frame but not the other way around, that is, not without spending money on fabrication. the evo is a far better motor. the twin cam just produces more power. too many moving parts to fail. you can get rid of the stock cams / tentioners but you have to live with the ones in the case as well as the hydraulic lifters inside the case... which have piece of crap nylon caps on the ends that can come off and plug your oil passages- boom! there goes your motor.
