Cleaned up the motor while I was at it

While I was working on the dash I took the time to do a real thorough engine cleaning on the old 1998 girl. This motor has over 100k on the clock and I think she still cleans up real good. Whacha think?

If you didn't include a pic of that battery cover, I'd swear that was a brand new bike! Wow, how long did that take ya? Nice, nice work!

Hey Pat,

The actual engine cleaning didn't take long at all, as I maintain it pretty well all year. The time was in cleaning between every fin. That is something that only gets a good going over once annually. I do the same to the little nooks and crannies that don't get any attention through normal washings once a year as well.

I've been real real happy with the evo motor in this bike. To this day she doesn't even weep so much as a single drop. I did put James metal base gaskets in her when she was pratically new but thats it.

Wow!! That is one clean machine, looks great! Have to ask, what did you use to clean the fins?

Cleaning

Hey Thanks,

I just used a mixture of simple green, hot water and dish soap. I took an old angled tip paint brush and taped up the metal band to prevent scratching and agitated away between each fin.
