Feels like I have a flat rear tire when riding
I just got a 2000 FXDX with 19K miles on it. My 04 Softail got stolen and all I got back was a few parts. I am going to put it back together but it is going to take time as the bike was not insured for theft.
Anyway,I found this FXDX at what I think is a very good price. It had just gone to the dealer and had all the fluids changed as well as new Screaming Eagle tires installed as well. Today was the 1st day I have been able to get out and put some miles on it. My son and I took off and just started hitting the back roads and burned a tank of gas,him on his Sraid 600 and me on my FXDX Sport. I am very happy with how the bike runs and for the most part handles which brings me to my question.
The tires are new and might have a few hundred miles on them. Tire pressure is correct. Towards the end of our ride,it felt like I had a rear tire going down, which I didn't. The bike felt kinda wobbly in the rear as if the sidewall was flooping around. Does this bike need some kind of stabilization kit installed and if so what ones do you recommend? This is the 1st yna I have owned but I really like it and have been reading up about the FXDX model. I didn't get a owners manual so I need to also figure out how to adjust the suspension correctly as well. Thanks in advance for any advice you are able to give me about this bike and this particular model.

First things I would check would be:
Make sure both shocks are adjusted to the same setting.
Check your steering head and make sure its not too tight (fall away check).

Could be a torn isolator block, worn out wheel bearings, or a chassis/wheel alignment problem.

All good answers above, you do have a mag wheel right? What you describe is common description of loose spoke hub wheels.

I figured it out. This is a Sport with the adjustable suspension. Both front and rear were way off as far as damping and rebound. I adjusted them per the manual for my weight and the bike is 100 times better. I thought I was going to get Progrssive shocks but after adjusting what I have,I see no need in buying anything as far as suspension. thanks guys for the suggestions.

The stck shocks on a FXDX are way better than the JUNK that Progressive sells. Progressive shocks are only a very minor improvement than the worst shocks($15 a pair) HD installs on most of their bikes.

Given what you found and the fact that this bike is new to you, I'd also suggest you go over the bike with a fine tooth comb and check everything. Always a good idea when buying a used bike and not knowing what the previous has messed with or up.
