i had a lady run a red light and smashed me and the bike (99 fxd)!!! it is a total to them. they are offering me $7400 for the bike, minus my $250 deductible and then to buy it back for $2000.

my question is, is the any negotiating with these insurance companies??? i had a lot of work i just to i did not that it matters but i just put front end and apehangers on it and that shiot wasnt cheap???

You will have to argue with the insurance co. If you can PRODUCE receipts that show an increase in the bikes worth they may listen....may partially but otherwise they are going on blue book value which you and I know does not inlcude any bling.

why are you dealing with your insurance company...
her insurance should be dealing with you and there is no deductible in that case and all you have to do is to prove the value of your bike and they have to pay it..
and to that end I would tell them this is what it is going to cost you for my bike and I am going to keep the bike as well..

your injuries are a different matter all together..

play hard ball they will fold eventually ...
they always do..
if that fails then get an attorney..

If they don't give you any extra money over book value you'll have to take them back to court ( sue the other driver ) to get the money for the extra parts and/or accessories. Just make sure you don't sign any papers that state you will not sue for any extras. A lot of times the insurance company will not even give you the book value till you agree to sign papers saying you will not sue for more in which case you turn down that offer and sue for everything. We had to do that with my kids car as they wouldn't give us anything more than book so we sued for what we thought the car was worth and won. We didn't have a lawyer, did it ourselves, but we had reciepts, pictures and anything and everything we could produce to prove the value including sale prices of other similar cars that sold in that area. Do your homework and you'll come out good, just have to prove everything!!!!

When my bike was totaled the first offer they made was $11,000 In the end they paid me $16,000 minus my $500 deductible. I had to provide comps for my area for bikes like mine. It took almost two weeks. Don't take the first offer or even the third or forth offer.
