2001 fxdx problem starting when hot

have an 2001 fxdx with a 103" motor and pretty much everything else is stock. have a problem when engine is hot and try to start it barely kicks over and have to quickly throttle to catch it. when cold it seems to start fine baterry is good and kept on a tender also always use the compression releases to start.anyone heard of a problem like this and what the remedy could be? would appreciate any input

You say the battery is good but I would load test it-or replace it as you might be suprised.
Also, maybe you could delay firing a couple revolutions with your ignition setting, or replace the the cams with the new S&S EZ start cams. You should check all cables and make sure everything is tight and your ground is secure.
Start with the battery-I keep my stuff on a tender also but had a bad battery that would charge up, but could not hold a load.
