Heat is NOT an issue - Got a new toy

I picked up a used ZX11D a few weeks ago and am enjoying running the snot out of it. Guess what? It runs HOTTER then the FXD. Once the engine is at normal temps the amount of heat coming from the fairing directly onto your legs is incredible. In stop and go traffic the heat is intolerable and forces you to lane split or just pull over. If you dont you start smelling like a BBQ.

Completely stock 1997 ZX11 D5. Back in those days I loved this bike. Had one for a while and regretted losing it. This one was an awesome deal.

Back in 97 it was used as a getaway vehicle in a bank robbery and impounded with only 1500 miles. It sat in the lot for 7 years until it was auctioned off in 2004. The guy I got it from manage to drive it another 2000 miles from 04 to when he sold it to me. Cost me $2800 with 3900 miles. Shows signs of being left out in the rain but its in great shape and runs very smooth.

Thumbs up 2009 Fxdc

You guys and this heat thing...

It's an air cooled motor....I had a 2001 rich runnin Sportster that would darn near burn me at a stop light before I got my Dyna this year, and maybe the early EFI bikes ran "hot", but like I said, IT'S AN AIR COOLED MOTOR. Give us a break...The new Dynas don't have heat problems, not even in 95 degree weather at 80% humidity...Now if you get one of those plastic covered models, you're gunna burn up, so don't waste your money on that plastic crap - Toyotas and Nissans are cheaper and get better mileage if you want a trunk and a windshield!

There must be something good, why else would they by the thing.
Hopefully not to just be able to complain about the heat.

Yep the heat is evident, maybe because the combustion taking place inches away is 450 t0 550 degrees F. oh ya the exhaust pipe are hotter.

What's funny, spending $1000 makes one think it's cooler.

Funny how my ZX makes my FXD seem to run so much cooler. The heat problem that was never there has been fixed.

hey nice bike and even nicer price seems like a steal to me.. lol pretty cool that it has a good story to go with it .
those bikes if im not mistaken also have fans on too so at a stop i would imagine every once in a while they would blow and push all the heat on your legs.
