Detachable Saddlebags

I have an '08 Street Bob and want to add detachable saddle bags. Looking for alternatives to the H-D set. Thanks for your help.

Hey Fred

I have been lookign for hard detachable bags for my 09 Fat bob. From my knowledge all you need is a pair of ghost brackets and you can pretty much make any pair of bags detachable. The site is a little confusing. Their are other brands as well, woth most of them being between 150 and 200 for the pair. Let me know how you make out.

When I bought my '09 FXDC I wanted lockable detachable bags. All Harley had was either the hard lockable bags or the soft leather detachable bags; no HD stuff had both features in the same set of bags. So I started shopping.

I looked at LeatherPros bags ( www.leatherpros.com ) and Boss bags ( www.bossbags.com ) before deciding on the Boss bags. Both brands seem very similar and I ended up getting the Boss bags. I have been very pleased with them. Very good construction and quality of leather.

Fred, I have an 06 Dyna. I checked out all of the hard bags and found that the Boss Bags were the ones. Heavy duty mounting brkts, well constructed leather covered hard bags, quick clean on and off, locks supplied and the best size and fit. I did need to buy a turn signal relocation kit from harley as my signal lights were mounted on the fender struts. I think these are great bags but not cheap. Good luck

I have wanted Boss bags for my Wide Glide for some time now but like you mentioned, not cheap. So, thanks to my year end bonus from work I just bought $950 worth of Boss stuff. Boss Saddlebags, a three pocket Boss windshield bag and a Boss front fork bag. As soon as I get the bike dressed I'll snap some new pics and post em.

Try the easy brackets, they are very clean between the fnder rails and the bags. These are HD bags.

Boss Bags. Took me 4 years to get over the excessive price, but they are hands-down the best I found or ever used. Love them.

I really want to get the boss bags. From every thing I have seen it is what I want.
I have the HD detachable backrest and harley bags. I tried the easy brackets but it made the bags stand out so much they looked like training wheels.
Oh well, someday.

SOLD, but check Fox Creek Leather. Much less money than HD, and locking w/ purchase of quick release brackets.

Just got my Boss Saddlebags.......Upon opening the box let me give you my first impressions. Simply beyond belief. The quality is what immediately stands out. Honest it doesn't look like a Sherman tank could tear them up. They are truly beautiful. I've looked at probably half a dozen saddlebags and there's simply no comparison to the Boss Bags. Granted I have not put them on the bike yet but seeing them sitting on the kitchen table I'm truly in awe. Yes they are expensive, but i cant help but think this is an obvious case in that you get what you pay for. Pics to follow soon.......

I have the HD detachable back rest/sissy bar and the Boss Bags supplied extended mounting bolt allows everything to attach - either the luggage rack, or the bags - or both at the same time. It's easy and takes less than 30 seconds. What also caught my eye when I was shopping is just what you mentioned. Some brackets and bags stuck out way too far. The Boss Bags hug the bike.

Though I hated parting with that much $$ on yet more overpriced HD-related stuff, the Boss Bags are a great product.
