My buddy bought a new 1977 Lowrider (1st year) and got the last of the only 5 shipped to our local dealer that year. Even though I already had a Harley, and have had many since, I totally fell in love with it. Finally, the timing was right when I bought my FXDL new in 2004. Been in love with Lowriders since 1977. It took me 27 years to get one. Just put LeatherPro bags on mine last week. I now have a great handling-small bagger.

I think my 05 Dyna Low Rider Custom is the best bang for the Buck, I picked mine up with less then 500 miles for 11,300.00. I took my time getting my license but I'm ready for this season. The bike now has less then 3000 miles which is low for an 05. Peace

I have an'05 FXD. My first Harley. I bought it mostly because of the price - $8,000. She had 9,700 miles on her at 3 years old. Since then I've fantasized about many other Harleys but now that I am working on upgrades for mine I'm thrilled with her. It's light with plenty of power. The only thing I wish I had was the FI. I hate this carb set up. Until she's warmed up it wants to cough when accelerating. I'll work that out too, I guess.

mrriehl,
Go talk to an independant about a stage 1 carb, air, and exhaust upgrade. I have an 05 FXD carb and had this done. About $400 later i was one happy rider. (no coughing allowed). Have fun with it.

mradke,
I'm cheap. I prefer to do my own wrenching. This bike has the K & N filter and Sreaming Eagle exhaust already. When I had the carb apart I noticed it had a #50 jet in it. Other riders have told me I just need to get it adjusted properly. I've been reading a lot about this carb and it seems to have a following. I'll give it some more adjusting and see if I can get it right.
Thanks!!

Don't worry about it.
Ive owned my low rider for 4 years now and love it. In my opinion, Harley dosn't make a better handling (or comfortable) bike than this one and Ive rode them all.. Guys are all wanting the big baggers now because that' the "popular" bike now days. I watch my buddy' struggle there asses off trying to manhandle there baggers into parking spots but man don't they look cool... You get out on the rode and start going through some fun sweeping turns and they cant even keep up. Plus, I can ride it for 400 miles in a day and feel great. Very comfortable ride.

To each, their own...but I've had Sportsters, Dynas, (FXDL and FXDX), Softails (Fatboy, FXSTSi, FXSTC) and finally and most recently, my Ultra Limited. Like you, I enjoyed my Low Rider (and the others)...but (for me) NONE of them holds a candle to my Limited when it comes to all day comfort, and at 6'1" and 215, I don't have a bit of trouble putting it into a parking spot or keeping up with more nimble bikes in the twisties.

My 06 FDXLi was my first big twin and I love it. I really think the motor company screwed up by dropping the lowrider. I won't part with it and don't see anything on the current showroom floor that would make me think about it
