I have hated the neck located ignition on my 06 Super Glide since I bought it. Finally decided I wanted a FX/FL side flip style switch on the console. To do it, I did away with the fuel gauge. Now i have to rely solely on my trip odometer for my fuel supply measuement. Since I changed speedos, I no longer have a low fuel light either.
To mount the new switch to the console, I used the fuel gauge mounting bracket. The diamter of the new switch was smaller than the fuel gauge hole in the console. To try and make it look right, i bought a chrome fuel gauge bezel and rigged it between the switch top and the switch body. After modifying the body, it worked and looked great.
The switch on the neck was originally labeled for the fork lock, unlock, ignition, and accessory positions. I purchased the trim ring from a Wide Glide, so no the cylinder in the neck is labeled lust for the fork lock and unlock positions.
Anyway, here are some pics.
