I have a 2000 Wideglide. In the owners manula it states 9.2 Oz. and in the Harley Davidson service manual it states 12 Oz. what is correct?

Check to see if it refers to "dry" or "wet" amount. Dry is if you are installing new forks or have disassembled and cleaned for some reason, or that haven't been lubed before...."wet" is what we go by for draining and then refilling....the regular scheduled maintenance. I'll check in my 1995 Wideglide factory manual tomorrow, but I'm sure it talks about wet and dry.

Are you sure you have a wide glide owners manual? The 1999 service manual says the wide glide uses 10.2, all other Dynas it is 9.2.

In 2000, it changed to 12.0 for the wide glide, 10.7 for the FXDL, 10.6 for the FXD, and 11.5 for the FXDXT.

So service manual wise, the only 9.2 amount I see is for pre-2000 non-wide glides.

As a tech, I'd go with the service manual all day...12 ounces

And while steveusmc is correct that often you'll see a "dry" vs "wet" amount... in the 2000 manual, there is no differentiation. The amount I listed is described in the section where all you are doing is draining the old oil and pouring in the new. In the section where you tear the fork all the way apart and clean it, it refers you to the "fork oil change" section for the amount.

This is probably WAAAAY more info than you were looking for, just thought I'd give you all the info I had at my disposal.

Go to J&P Cycles web page and look for (part # 230-321) fork oil measurment tool, for a whole $12.99. If you want your forks right you need this. Wet or dry you get perfect measurment and amount every time. It also allows you to tailor the ride to suit different situations. I would not be without it!
