Idaho kid wants to know Dino or Syn?
Sissy bar installation

Hi, I'm new here and just purchased a 2007 FXDL and am wondering if I need to relocate my tail lights if I install a permanent (Rigid) sissy bar.

Thanks for any help

No need to relocate tail lights for a sissy bar install. You may want to consider doing it at this time because many mods involving the rear portion of the bike require a tail light relocation. Get it done and out of the way. It also looks much better.

the rigid mount uprights slide between the strut and fender so you must remove the bolts that hold the turn signals which can be a little tricky if you don't lift the bike and take the weight off the rear. the bolts are approx 4 " long so the back tire will interfere

both people posted some really good advice. you don't need to relocate the signals, i didn't when i put the rigid side plates on my 2006 fxdl. i also did it myself and with as low as the bike sits i did end up having to jack it up a bit to get the weight off the tire so i could work with the bolts etc in there.

at this point in some ways i also wish i'd just gone ahead and moved the signals (which i didn't want to do at the time) since there are quite a bit of other mods (such as a decent sized saddlebag) that do require it.
